Late Alh. Baba Ballama


Alh Baba Ballama was born in Maiduguri, Borno State, in the year 1931. He attended Borno middle school from 1951 to 1954 then was admitted to ABU Zaria in 1955 where he obtained a diploma in Accounting in 1955 from the Institute of Administration.
After graduating he stated working with the Borno Native Authority. He worked with the former Northern Nigeria Governor for some years before he voluntarily retired in 1966.

After retirement he had gone into private business. He was also the Chairman and Chief Executive of Borno United Enterprises. He has been a board member of several private organizations and also a member of FMC Azare Board of Management.
He died after a brief illness at his residence at No. 17 BG Aji Galtimari Street Gamboru Ward in Maiduguri City on the 30 August 2016 and was buried on the following day. He was survived by one wife and 15 children and many great-grandchildren.

Before his death, Ballama was an active former community leader and peace negotiator. He worked in Nigerian Suiting Company Textiles, Kano as General Manager in the years 1977 to 82. He is also served the Rice farmers Association of Nigeria [RIFAN] Borno State Branch as a Financial Secretary and was a grand patron to various Islamic schools within his state.
