DEPARTMENT OF LAUNDRY SERVICES
The Laundry Complex was built and equipped with modern laundry machines and started operation in January 2007.
Tasks and Responsibilities
It is responsible for the production of cleaned, infection free linen and protective clothing in the Centre.
The Laundry Complex is comprised of two main units:
- The Laundering Unit:
- In the Laundering unit, there are two high capacity washing machines (washer extractor), two large driers and one large calendaring machine which, washes, dries and presses linen supplied from various wards and clinics of the Centre.
- The Tailoring Unit:
- The Tailoring Unit, on the other hand, sews protective clothing that are used by both the medical personnel and patients within the centre and it has two modern industrial sewing machines.
We offer services to the Centre seven days of the week from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm daily.
Other Services: Apart from the hospital laundry services, the Laundry Department also provides commercial services to the immediate community at reasonable rates. This service is aimed at utilising the capacity of the machines as well as generating income for the Centre.
For the maintenance of the machines, a certified qualified technical company is contracted to provide the maintenance services.
Category of Personnel
Our personnel are categorised into:
Technical Officers Cadre - which provides technical as well as managerial services.
Washerman Cadre - which provides the operational services.
The department is headed by Alh. Danbaba Garba, Chief Technical Officer (Laundry).
