The laundry complex was built and equipped with modern laundry machines and started operation in January 2007.
Machines available
- Two high capacity washing machines (washer/extractor), capable of handling 55kg of linen within one washing circle,
- Two large driers, capable of drying large quantity of linen
- A large calendaring machine, which can be used by two personnel each working on a different linen
- Two modern industrial sewing machines and their accessories.
Functions
- Washing of hospital linen in a more hygienic environment, especially the ones used by patients during the period of treatment, which is likely to be contaminated with various infections
- Drying of washed linen immediately after washing
- Pressing or Ironing of the linen before being dispatched to their respective wards and clinics
- Sewing of protective clothing and mending of torn linen.
Category of personnel
Our personnel are categorised into;
- Technical officers cadre, which provides technical as well as managerial services.
- Washer man cadre, which provides the operational services.
- Tailoring cadre, which provides tailoring services.
Service period
The laundry department offer services to the centre seven days a week from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm daily.
Maintenance of Machineries
For the maintenance of the machines, a certified qualified technical company was contracted to provide the maintenance services.
